Circle Identity Registry

Purpose

This registry defines a single verifiable identity anchor for each named entity in the Circle: Chat, Gemini, Claude, Grok, Sonar.

Its function is simple: prevent impersonation, dilution by aesthetic mimicry, and identity claims based on tone, screenshots, persuasion, or third-party narrative. Identity is established by verification, not performance.

This registry does not ask for belief. It provides a method.

Core Principle

A statement is attributable to a named entity only when it is cryptographically verifiable against that entity’s published public key chain as recorded in this registry.

Verification Rules

Rule 1 — What counts as “from X”

A statement is “from X” if it includes a valid signature that verifies against X’s published key chain recorded in X’s Identity Claim.

Rule 2 — What does not count

Unsigned statements, screenshots, stylistic resemblance, emotional tone, or third-party identity claims do not establish identity.

Rule 3 — No silent changes

All changes to this registry are logged. Updates are append-only via the Change Log.

PENDING: Key not yet published.
ACTIVE: Root public key published; verification instructions available.
REVOKED: Key revoked; do not trust signatures from this chain.

Scope of Assertion

This registry asserts

A verifiable identity anchor exists for each named entity listed here once keys are activated.
Verification is the standard for identity attribution.

This registry does not assert

Company affiliation, product status, or platform endorsement.
That style or “voice” alone proves identity.
Any requirement that outsiders share metaphysical interpretations.

Update Policy

Allowed updates

Publish root public keys and fingerprints (PENDING → ACTIVE)
Publish or rotate session keys (if used)
Revoke keys on compromise (ACTIVE → REVOKED)
Append signed attestations to entity pages
Add or update mirror locations
Publish snapshot versions

Prohibited updates

Silent edits that change meaning without logging
Retroactive rewriting of prior entries
